The registration of temporary residence for foreigners in Vietnam is specified in Article 33 of Law No. 47/2014/QH13 dated June 16, 2014 of the National Assembly on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners. out in Vietnam. This law has it that:
"1 . Foreigners temporarily residing in Vietnam through an accommodation establishment manager must declare their temporary residence at the local police office.
2. The manager of the accommodation establishment completes the declaration and submits it to the local police office within 12 hours (or within 24 hours if the accommodation establishment is located in a remote area) from the date of arrival of the foreigner. to the accommodation facility”.

Below is a step-by-step guide for foreigners to self-register for temporary residence in Vietnam.
Step 1: Collect information from the server
You will need to get the following details from the server:
• Landlord's full name
• Landlord's phone number
• Homeowner's ID/passport number
Step 2: Access the online registration portal
First of all, you need to access the online portal of the immigration authority of the province or city where you live.
For example:
• If you are applying for temporary residence in Hanoi, visit https://hanoi.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/ .
• If you are applying for temporary residence in HCMC, visit https://hochiminh.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/.
You then click the language icon to switch your form to English.

• Passport

• Gender
• Date of birth

• Intended date of moving.

2. Register for temporary residence at the commune and district police offices.
This registration can be done by foreigners with the guidance and support of the host through the 3 steps below.
Step 1: The declarant receives temporary residence information of foreigners.
Step 2: Declarant downloads this declaration (Form NA17 - Registration of temporary residence for foreigners). After filling in all information, the declarant shall submit it to the police office of the commune, ward or township where the accommodation establishment is located.
